How refreshing to find a teenage fantasy book without vampires and witches, or being steeped in magic.I was happy, without any qualms, to allow my young teenage grand-daughter to read this, (and I really enjoyed it myself!). I also liked the added extras, the map, prophecy, etc., which gave more interest; my grand-daughter is really pleased that she knows what 'Gem' looks like- good artwork.
The characters were believable, I wanted to know what happened to them. I also want to know what happens next! Looking forward to the second book.

The pigeons are back in this epic sequel to Discernment! This
installment by far surpasses its prequel, and you'll find it impossible
to put down!!!
I'd recommend this trilogy to teen fans of the Dragonriders of Pern series, and maybe William Nicholson fans too.
I'm so psyched for the final installment!
